Aaron Gray - From ESPN
Negatives: He's not a very good athlete, and weight has been an issue in the past. With the NBA moving toward an up-tempo style, Gray's type of game is less valued than it's been in the past. Not much of a shot blocker. Poor free throw shooter.
Summary: For a second straight season, Gray continues to prove that he's a legit NBA center prospect, despite scouts' misgivings. He's moved from the first-round bubble to a pretty firm first-round pick.

JamesOn Curry - From ESPN
Notes: Declared for the 2007 NBA Draft and has decided to stay in the draft. Had his college scholarship pulled by North Carolina after being arrested for marijuana possession.
Positives: Big-time scorer. Excellent slasher to the basket. Good shooter with legit NBA 3-point range. Good at penetrating and dishing to open teammates. Flies up and down the floor. Long arms allow him to play bigger than he is.
Negatives: Undersized 2 guard. Thin, frail body. Turnover prone, can play out of control. Poor shot selection at times. Doesn't give a great effort on the defensive end. Very inconsistent.
Summary: He came into the NCAA as a highly touted prospect, but struggled his first two years at Oklahoma State. Had a much better junior year, putting him back on the NBA radar screen.

by Sambossanova on Jun 28, 2007 11:16 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
You give Sweets the ball on the low block,
Gray will score 2 out of 10 times, if he gets lucky. And if he gets fouled, he can't shoot free throws.
Basically, Gray is the worst 7 footer in the NBA the last 20 years. I'd rather have Mark Eaton or Greg Ostertag.

Premature?
by Freethefro on Jun 28, 2007 11:11 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Off-base
The Bulls made a very educated decision to pass on him. They're a better judge, right now, of whether they made the right pick in Noah as an NBA player, than any pundit or fan.
So yes, extremely premature.
by Todd Lerner on Jun 29, 2007 12:06 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Overall Grade
Noah might be fine, needed two big men. Curry could be a good pickup, and a reason to ship Duhon away, which we all would like. No low post threat available, and Gray should be able to contribute right away. Was a top20 pick about two months ago, and Gasol would be a project. Layups will be difficult against Noah, Wallace, Thomas frontline. All are fantastic help defenders. Noah's FT shooting will be a boost, and energy might just make the whole team explode into fits of rage. Shot can be worked on, Hakeem could help teach them(Thomas and Noah). Overall, fit needs as well as possible, would have liked to sneak up to get McRoberts in addition. SF depth could have helped with the possible departure of Noce. Deng/Thabo?/Griffin isn't too strong. I don't consider Thomas a SF, but I guess Deng will get generous minutes next year. Overall, team looks like so(Without Duhon, Khyrapa, Allen, PJ and Noce):
Hinrich/Gordon/Curry
Gordon/Thabo/Curry
Deng/Thabo/Griffin
Thomas/Noah
Wallace/Noah/Gray
Not a bad team, decent depth and that's only with 10 players.
