I'm still waiting for
Kirk Hinrich to win Middle America's Sweetheart Award. While googling Kirk Hinrich just to see if he actually won an award that I could turn into a better lame joke I found this:

http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/beaconnews/sports/363031,2_2_AU29_BULLS_S1.article

It's a typical Paul-Ladewski-shouldn't-think-so-much column buried in the Beacon News. Someone should let him know Hinrich isn't the first defender to get in foul trouble against Wade. Someone should else tell Paul Ladewski what a big idiot he is.

Now back to Luol Deng regular programming...

I read this
the other day. Idiot was the word that came to my mind too.
My team has no "super star". It has players who have desire, determination and heart making them a "super team". GO BULLS!!!

The Suntimes had it in for Hinrich last week
Not sure why. But this "Ben Gordon's team" thing is another new low. I don't know why they are pumping this guy up at Hinrich's expense when they could just pump him up without tearing anybody else down. It's dumb.

I thought the same thing
There have been plenty of articles in various papers highlighting a particular Bull - no need to rip one of the other guys on the team to do that. Anyone who watches the Bulls even semi-regularly would recognize that Hinrich's play in the Heat series was not an accurate reflection of his regular contribution to the team.

Here the team is doing great this postseason, and some stupid columnists have to disrupt my happiness with negative articles!

I hate that too
The idea that you have to decide which one you like better between Hinrich/Gordon/Deng, and if one gets better that makes the other 'expendable'.

I give the idea a pass if one thinks there's no way a Hinrich/Gordon starting backcourt can work, but that idea is getting less traction by the game.

It applies to the 'how can we afford everybody?!?' hubub, to which the answer, as always, is if it's really a concern you just send Noc packing and pay everybody else.

He's a bench player
without a position. I wouldn't risk Gordon or Deng's future with the Bulls just to sign a reserve. It isn't bashing, it's stating a fact. Nocioni isn't as good as Gordon or Deng.

Deng
During the miami series seemed more unsportsman like then usual. He was probably fired up.

by Sambossanova on May 3, 2007 12:56 PM CDT reply actions

Interestingly...
I thought the same thing at times during the series. It wasn't "a lot" more, but it seemed like he was showing more emotion and cockiness/strut/swagger/WTFever than usual.

I remember actually thinking that. So I'm glad someone else did, too. At least I'll have a partner in craziness.

Congratulations
to Luol. Couldn't go to better deserving guy.

Great choice -
Lu absolutely deserves it. And it's really nice to see the Bulls getting such positive recognition in so many different places this postseason!

Well deserving
Deng is a nice guy and a talented player coming into his own. I enjoy reading about talented "good guys" in the league who realize the magnitude of their star power and use it far beyond the sporting arena. I've met Deng in person on 2 separate occasions and from that I've surmised two things. 1) He's really tall 2) He's pretty patient and listens when you talk. He's far from cocky, I like that.

I am glad the Bulls continue to get rewared
Deng-NBA Sportsmanship Award
Wallace and Hinrich-All Defensive Second Team

Even though it's the 2nd team, it's still a nice honor.

DEE-TROIT, PREPARE FOR THE STAMPEDE! IT'S THE BULLS, BEWARE OF THE NEW BREED!!!

I've just been thinking of it as
the Bulls having 2 of the top 10 defenders in the league. Who cares if I'm just being delusional by ignoring the 1st team/2nd team distinction!

It's like this resume I saw once where they guy listed his class rank as "Top 37" -

"We're in trouble if we lose at home. If we lose at home, you come back and talk to me and I'll tell you: 'You know what? We're in trouble.'" Alonzo Mourning
