Boylan (UPDATED)

UPDATE: [ Jim O'Brien (!) is going to be the new Pacers coach. Tough break for Boylan. -Matt]

So how much would Boylan leaving the bulls affect the bulls?  I have no idea how much of a role he currently has in the bulls style/coaching and everythinng.  Considering many here think that coaching is of marginal value and how a team performs is based almost purely on how its players perform...I guess it wouldn't matter much.  Oh and its division rivals the Pacers who are most interested according to this article:

I remember all of the Boylan supporters before?
Too many can't face the truth...

Once there were comments suggesting that the Bulls young Bigs (Tyson, Curry, now Thomas) didn't really have a true mentor to teach them post moves and playing effectively in the paint.  The Magic are having the same problems with Howard, no effective offensive mentors to teach all of that talent how to play offensively in the post.  The Lakers are a role model in this area of the game.  They take serious the development of their Bigs.

Does anyone know that Boylan can teach effective foot work in the paint, and a good offensive game? His pre/post game comments never seem impressive from a coaching point of view.

Did Bull's abandon Tyson and Curry? Sure! At least one of the two should still be on the team.

I think stacey king, paxson's buddy, will replace boylan if he leaves, probably a questionable upgrade? But at least it will remove King from behind the microphone.  Bulls need some fresh blood to coach the young bigs offensively and defensively.  Oops! We don't have any young bigs? or any bigs for that matter.  (except thomas, maybe at 6'8", P.J is gone?, ben wallace, veteran center is at best 6'6")

I forgot, the NBA is changing to small ball?  Do we really need bigs? Tell the Spurs's Duncan spanking the Suns, and the Piston's superior height advantage over the Bulls this argument during 2007 playoffs.

If Boylan leaves then its an opportunity.

While the Lakers may take the
development of their bigs seriously, that doesn't mean any of them have actually gotten better.  You can laude the Lakers' educational system when Bynum does more than flash potential.
