Should Tyrus Thomas be sent to D-League

Read

 http://www.nba.com/features/wurst.html

Will it expose his under-developed game and reduce his trade value or allow him to develop an offensive NBA game?

Do you think he would dominate the D-League? After considering the possibility that he might not have been the best player on the LSU team when he was drafted? Nor is he ranked in the top 10 rookies this year?  Playing time and Skiles coaching, aside...

Is Tyrus really similiar to either E-Rod or JYD, both former Bulls, with outstanding leaping ability and great hustle work ethic, respectively?  But limited offensively?

March Madness approaches!  Time for E-Rod types to shine for that NBA contract! Did E-Rod dupe Krause into a nice contract (5 years 32 million for a reserve who average 7 ppg) during his playoff run with the Hornets?

Should Paxson allow Tyrus to wear a head ban, similiar to the one he worn in the NBA Dunk contest and also similiar to the one E-Rod wore?

March Madness approaches!  Last year if LSU didn't have the great run during tournament, and Tyrus still entered the draft do you think he would have been taken in 1st round, 2nd round or undrafted?

Did "unknown" Tyrus dupe Paxson? or was this a wise pick?

Did it, Tyrus leaping ability, dupe you or do you still have faith the he will be a NBA star?

Didnt mean to hit "post" quite yet....
but it's too early to call it a bad pick.  He needs more playing time at the pro level and until he gets that playing time and is absolutely atrocious, I won't call it a bad pick.

Happy with TT
He is one of the most athletic players in the league and he is better then Erod or JYD.  His hops and size/length make him a freak (no offense to freak nation out there).  I have noticed that on fast breaks or when TT is slashing to the hoop the bulls guards often bounce pass him the ball, instead of throwing it up and letting him go up to get it.  TT often points upwards after failed offensive attempts, but to no avail.  Possibly a Skiles moratorium against above the rim/alley-oop type plays??

SO far this season I am happier when his on the floor than when PJ is.  TT hasn't come close to playing relaxed and confident and the combo of talent and confusion makes him play spastic at times...

NBDL... no way!! he needs to learn how to play by playing in the NBA, it is the NBA toughness at the 4 that is his biggest challenge.   Did he guard Dwight Howard the other night at all??

We still need more size tho.  a 7 footer.

I think Tyrus will end up being the right pick
Even with the uneven playing time, Thomas's /40 numbers aren't bad.  There are two real positives in his play so far.  First, his shot blocking carried over into the NBA at an elite level (close to 4/40 min).  That skill doesn't always translate to the NBA.  Second, Tyrus gets to the FT line.  He's second to Gordon in FTA/40 among the Bulls, while taking alot less shots.  He shot 65% at LSU so he should end up being a decent FT shooter.  Both are good indicators for future success on both ends of the court.

it usually
takes about 4 years to see what a player truly is. who knows if TT will ever develop an offensive game..

TT
made a pretty solid 'don't send me to the d-league' preformance tonight

before tonight, when most of the community beleived thabo's confidence was shot, i had the feeling we should send him down for a week so he can dominate the d-league and get hsi confidence back, but that theory was clearly disproven tonight

Oof.
Pretty rough timing on this post.  Tyrus just had a very nice game and was really competent on both ends of the floor last night.  But that aside, Tyrus would be playing as many minutes as Rudy Gay or LaMarcus Aldridge or Brandon Roy if he was on a team that sucked.  When he's in the game, he brings a type of elite athleticism that nobody else on the team can come even close to bringing.  He doesn't get many minutes because the team has been jockeying for playoff positioning and can't afford to ride out his mistakes (near the top of the league in TOs/40).  But would he "learn" a whole bunch of new stuff if he was down in a league where everybody is ballhogging to try to get noticed?  I doubt it.  He seems to now be (and has been at various points during the season) a rotation player.  I think the D-League should be used only for players with zero prospects of getting immediate minutes.  Otherwise, I would argue that earning one's stripes and playing limited NBA minutes is more enlightening than dominating a League where the players could care less about the standings and the team concept is relatively weak.
