Does this mean the Bulls will have an All Star?

Espn is reporting that  Jason Kidd will miss the All Star Game  b/c his wife
beat him up again.  Ok, actually, it's because he's got a creaky lower back from carrying the Nets for so long. Am I at 300 words yet??

Obviously, this is significant b/c Stern will get to chose a replacement and Gordon/Deng SHOULD be in the running for the spot.  Hopefully Stern's marketing people inform him that Chicago is the 3rd largest market in the NBA and it would be good to have someone on the Bulls make the squad.

Maybe we should show him a population map of
the United States.  Good point.  Just putting one in gets them probably a mil or two in revenue.
Deng, he's good!!!!!!!!!

ehh...
it doesnt hurt to have a bull, but i doubt there will be many people who turn in for the fact that deng/gordon gets the 13th spot in an ASG....it certianly helps though

A guard for a guard perhaps?
Gordon should be looking particularly sweet if Stern is looking to replace Kidd with another guard. Then again, who knows?  Stern replaced Iverson & Nash with Jesus Shuttlesworth & Okur.

guess who the nmber one market is?
The Knicks.  I wouldn't be extremely surprised if Superstar Curry gets picked.

by Sambossanova on Feb 14, 2007 10:53 AM CST reply actions

it'll be deng
gordons the logical pick because hes flashy enough, but the east needs forwards (bron, bosh, o'neil...those are the only true forwards they have), plus he symbolizes sterns fascination with internationalizing the nba

I believe it's Joe Johnson
but with all the Fuss going on about Knicks playing well... Eddies dunk beating the Lakers, and Dolan saying Thomas' job is safe, I won't be surprised if Curry gets the call...
-
They'll play Eddie, Howard, Bosh, Lebron, and Shaq running the Point. I see it already. - If Joe doesn't get in that would suck, he's having a way better season statistically than most players in the East, but who knows. Atlanta has no market. - And I highly doubt Deng or Gordon will be selected.

so sad
I'm sick of this shit.

Why so surprised?
It was a given. The Kid is playing his ass off for a team that sucks Balls. I think he deserves it. - Too bad for Deng or Ben, but Joe deserves it. Im not mad. He actually deserves to be there more than Rip Hamilton does.

to be honest
I was mainly a hoping a Bull player can be named an all star to bring him higher trade value. Usually teams see the player is an all star and it gives him just a tad bit more value.

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2007 1:29 PM CST up reply actions

O don't know
how this is true. Gordon and Deng have high trade value already, don't you think? I mean, they want them for Gasol... And what team would NOT want them on their team? I don't think it would have helped them get extra value. And every all star selected will always be a player teams would like to have even before they are selected.
I think it's just something else to ass to their Bios and introductions.

yeah
but instead of wanting both of them. Maybe an all star nod would solidify an argument that one should be more than enough as an exchange for Pau. then you can say Deng or Gordon has been an all star for one year...like Pau.

problem is
Trades are made by actual real-life general managers, and most probably don't care about a meaningless designation and are more concerned about how a trade, ya know, helps their team.

yeah
you're right. I think i mainly speak in terms of fan talk.

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2007 1:44 PM CST up reply actions

No
I do not agree with the statement one bit.  Maybe the fans in a particular city might like the idea of trading for an allstar, but that is about it.  It wouldn't change a GM's prospective of lets say Deng or Gordon.
