I was recently turned on to this website called What If Sports: http://www.whatifsports.com/
Basically this thing is a simulator that lets you pit different historical teams against one another. You can adjust the rotations and minutes for each player. It will simulate a game and produce a box score complete with a play-by-play sheet similar to the ones on espn.com.
I ran a few simulations with interesting results. Obviously, you can't take this too seriously, but it made for some great fun. I won't get into too much detail, but here's some highlights.
1st matchup - Best of 7 (2-3-2 finals format)
'96 Bulls vs. '02 Lakers
Bulls win in 6
2nd matchup - Best of 7
'96 Bulls vs. '92 Bulls
'92 team wins in 4 - That surprised me a bit
And the 1 game finale:
'07 Bulls vs. '02 Lakers
Bulls - 116
Lakers - 110
Deng - 25 pts 9 Reb
Thomas - 14 pts 5 blocks 9 reb
Hinrich - 26 pts 6 reb 7 asst
Gordon - 19 pts 7 asst
Wallace - 16 reb
Kobe - 34 pts 7 reb 6 asst
Shaq - 25 pts 12 reb
Wow.. Now that's Bulls the team we've been waiting for. I made TT a starter and gave him 37 min. Unlike Skiles, I don't have a doghouse ;)
Have fun.
