Aldridge/Chandler vs Tyrus/Wallace.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/apphoto/photo?sportId=46&photoId=1741195

Damn 28 points Bulls missed on that trade. Hey hindsight is 20/20 but wow. Maybe Matt was right. I think I remember him wanting to draft Aldridge all season and right now that looks like what they should have done. Atleast if you needed scoring.

Tyrus PPG 6.9 | RPG 5 | BPG 1

I know most of that is due to playing time but oh my lord there seems to be a big difference on paper.

Tyrus showed alot of the game changing freakish abilities late last season so maybe thats the case this season. Maybe he starts slow like Wallace. Now I'm just hoping.

Although I loved the pick at the time and still pretty much do I wish he could get more mintues. It would be nice to see him play harder I do think Skiles had a bit of a point he can loaf at times. I hope he they can put that past them and Tyrus can work on not making Paxson look like a fool. Wallace is already doing that.

Wallace

Tyson

Season    13    13    31.8    53-97    .546    0-1    .000    35-54    .648    3.5    7.4    10.9    .23    1.31    2.23    2.85    1.5    10.8

I guess I could have done it like this...

Tyson       PPG 10.8 | RPG 10.9 | BPG 1.3
Aldridge   PPG 18.8 | RPG 7.8 | BPG 1.1

Wallace    PPG 4.6 | RPG 7.2 | BPG 1.4
Tyrus       PPG 6.9 | RPG 5 | BPG 1

I know thats a bit flawed based on minutes and the Skiles effect but it is what it is. And the fact that Aldridge and Tyson are on separate teams. But just for fun.

Lets see thats......

Tyson/Aldridge  PPG 29.6 | RPG 18.7 | BPG 2.4
Wallace/Tyrus    PPG 11.5 | RPG 12.2 | BPG 2.4

More production with a Tyson/Aldridge front court. Once again this is a bit flawed but it still seems that scoring wise there is a huge difference.

Then you have the debate that Tyson fouls out. I think that cancles out based on the fact that Wallace can't shoot free throws.

Not to throw salt in the wound but I was a big Tyson Chandler fan and I think with a Tyson/Aldrige front court it also give you more trading options. With Wallace's age he looks almost untradable. Opps!

Sorry about the formating. I haven't figured out how to do it on this blog.
Aldridge Chandler Deng Gordon Hinrich I would take that! None even need to wear a headband.

Paxson has been
too creative with his drafts and trades.

Aldridge/Chandler vs Tyrus/Wallace

No further comments on these players

Also, I don't expect much out of Kirk and Thabo this season, because preparation should have occurred during off-season. It's too late. It appears neither lifted a dumb-bell or took upon any personal challenges to improve.  This will be a wasted season for both.  Kirk will have to compete to be a starter in the NBA, evenually.  Paxson won's be able to continue to protect him if he doesn't deliver.  Thabo is scared, and appears headed back to europe, evenually.

Gordon thinks he's the best player on the team, and sadly he is offensively.  This being the case is an indictment against our drafts and trades for obtaining majority of role players with limited offensive skills.  Tyrus & Noah, also good role players and Wallace clones, are not star players to deliver offensive. A team full of a bunch of role players who can't have a role without a leader and/or star player. Gordon should only be a 6th - 8th man on any NBA team.   In his mind, if busted Wallace can get 15 mil, then he should at least get the same.  His reasoning is sound in his mind.  How wrong Gordon is.

Deng, a nice 2nd option role player so far.

The Bulls have complex issues, and it seems without easy answers.  But, that can all change with a right move here and there.

Could we get off this Chandler/Aldridge crap!
For one we don't have these players.  Also, Chandler is scoring a little because he has Chris Paul as his point guard.  Chandler still has small hands, still doesn't have a jumper, no post game to speak of, also lets see if he puts out this same production in the playoffs.  My guess is he gets too excited like he did in the '06 playoffs against Miami.  Before you could blink he was already in foul trouble.
Aldrige seems like a nice player, but he's having trouble staying on the floor.  I was watching the Kings/Blazers game last night and he made two silly offensive fouls in the final 2 minutes against Brad Miller.  The funny thing is though, if he were in a Bulls uniform, Skiles would have slowed his development as he has done to Tyrus "TNT" Thomas.

***     You are the same people who have said, man, if we had Elton Brand, Brad Miller, Artest, and Crawford the Bulls would be in the hunt for  a Championship every year.  NOT A CHANCE!!!!!!!

Is it me or does Lebron walk like a duck?!

Chandler curse
Ever since chandler got traded, it seems that everyone on the bulls has small hands.  Backcourt's dumb turnovers and suddenly wallace cant tip the ball accurately.

I didn't notice
his bad play as much. He wasn't KG but he was productive. He could hit free throws. I think people were too hard on him. I liked him I thought his height made thing difficult for other teams.

Chandler, Aldridge, Noah would have been fine with me.

Thabo Sefolosha got bad. Took a stupid pill.

Chandler can shoot free throws?
He's a career 60.4% free throw shooter, with his best season in 04-05, 67.3%.  Yes it's better than Ben Wallace, but I wouldn't call it "can make free throws."

by Jaina on Nov 24, 2007 5:09 PM CST up reply actions

of course
it should really be Chandler vs. PJ Brown, since thats who he was traded for.  and that makes it even worse since he doesnt even play here anymore.

Tyrus and draft picks
I dont mean to bash tyrus too much and he could end up being great one day, but Paxson passed over lots of people that could be of a lot of use right now.  Thabo over Brewer.  Gay, brandon roy and aldridge would sure be of much use now.  The least they can do now is make sure that they give tyrus at least a chance to develop so the bulls dont look like complete idiots.

I was just watching the hornets for a little bit and chandler looked like his old self in the first half.    The hornets are fun to watch though.  Kind of reminds me of the bulls back in the 04-05 when they were exciting to watch.  With brand missing, Kaman has completely taken over.  The man is a beast. He is finishing like eddy curry around the rim with that soft touch but can also play defense and is slightly better at passing the ball. Sure could use him.  Oh,  Iggy seems to have fared better than deng so far but thats more subjective and perhaps unfair...

Oh well. I am still optimistic that something positive will come out of all this mess.  Maybe Paxson did need another year to judge the team and redrawing his game plan and looking at the free agent roster for next year.

Remember
we have Skiles as the coach of our favorite team. What makes you think any of those players would be getting the playing time or be playing the way they are now if they were on the Bulls? I'm not disagreeing with you but it is Skiles they would have as their coach.
Please get this season turned around and play some great basketball.

Hindsight
my ....

I sent Paxson about 20 emails "Help a GM with our draft picks"

I pleaded from every angle, that Tyrus was okay, but strongly overrated, and risky.

Try "Frustrated".

Wallace, "the 4 on 5 teammate".  I left this message on Paxson's voice mail many times.

Well,
shame on Paxson for not listening to you.  He should be damned to hell now.

by upther on Nov 26, 2007 8:12 AM CST up reply actions

"He should be damned to hell now."
I would go that far and say that....

Maybe he should not try to be so creative with his picks and trades. Just be a meat and potato type GM. I think if he plays the middle of the road type (if you pick 2nd, take and keep the 2nd pick or 2nd best player in the draft), he'll keep a job longer and hopefully another good opportunity to trade a bunch of average players for a Kobe or Garnett type will resurface again in his lifetime.

It seems like he's trying hard to hit a home run or out smart someone. The Isiah Thomas's Curry trade praise seem to blow his head more than hitting that winning shot in the Bulls vs Suns championship game. This Jerry Krause ego type stuff?

The end result is he gets outsmarted, Viktor was considered an accumluation of assets? Warming the bench asset? Has Viktor's trade value really elevated coming to the Bulls?  What was he talking about at that time?

Getting, euro Thabo who only played against who? or what type of players?
Heck, he did well with Noc, then he gets fixated and then tunnelled, and then no amount of reason matters.

Still upther "hell" is not the answer.  But there is an answer, I dare not reached  until he has been given a few more opportunities to make the Bulls better...

Glad it isn't just me
Agree w/ JoeJoe's post.  While I readily admit that Tyson has small girl hands and no post game, that is irrelevant b/c we are comparing his productivity to Wallace.  Wallace also has no offensive skills, so they cancel each other out.  Defensively, the stats speak for themselves -  Ben is done. No one fears him anymore.  For what the Bulls require of their center (defense and boards), Tyson is currently the better player than Wallace.  As for Aldridge, it's obvious that the Bulls need low post scoring.  We are a team of chuckers, period.  One dimensional and easy to game plan against.  I like Tyrus, but bad gamble by Paxson.  I saw Portland's first game against SA, and Aldridge had all the post moves we need.  He's young and needs some weight though.

Agree -
The issue is Wallace verses Chandler.  Chandler would not be our savior, but he cost 5 mil less than Wallace, is younger and 5 inches taller.  He is a better defensive stopper than the too old, finished Wallace.

by chgobr on Nov 26, 2007 11:36 AM CST up reply actions

It's true right now Chandler is better
but I'm still convinced Chandler wouldn't have bounced back without a change of scenery or at least a change of coach.  Skiles demoralized him.

Chandler's best offensive year (2nd highest FG%, highest pt avg) on the Bulls was before Skiles, in 02-03.  IMO, his best overall year in Chicago (2nd highest pt total, highest rebounds, steals, and blocks avgs) was Skiles' first full season (04-05) - I assume before their relationship deteriorated.

I've just never been convinced Tyson would have performed as well on the Bulls - having Paul as your PG also helps!
