Agent Zero's comments on Bulls

For those of you who missed Arenas' comments on his blog (http://www.nba.com/blog/gilbert_arenas.html), here is a brief excerpt:

At the end of the day, we know who we want to face off against in the playoffs: Cleveland.

You want to play the exciting teams that have the same type of talent and the same type of up-and-downess (I don't even know if that's a word). You want a team that plays at the same pace as you. If you're an up-and-down team you don't want to play against a team like Chicago and grind it out. That's the worst. Using a Marbury phrase, "great kudos" to Chigago, but that's the one team you don't want to play in the first round. If you play them in the first round, most likely you aren't going to get further then the second round because they will beat you up so bad that you will be tired and it will take everything out of you just to beat them that series.

I remember them in 2004-05 when we had to play against them. It took all of our energy out to beat them and when we got to the second round against Miami we didn't have anything. That's the one team that you can say that you don't want to face in the playoffs and that's Chicago. They're a brutal team and they'll bang you, they'll press you full court, 24/7 for seven games.

nothing grindier
than a 0.7 difference in possessions per game.

You beat me to it
I got a kick out of Arenas desire to play the fast paced Cavs, and distaste for playing the slow paced Bulls.

But, I guess it's a misguided backhanded praise.  Congratulations Bulls fans, Agent Zero doesn't want to beat your team because it'd be too tiring.  But, he'd be happy to beat the Cavs because apparently they're not very physical and like to run up and down the court gently.

but...
Weren't the Bulls running at a slower tempo a couple years ago when they met the Wiz in the playoffs? Arenas probably doesn't realize the team has changed because the core is the same, the coach is the same and he doesn't watch them every night.

The Bulls were still 11th in pace
that season.  Still much faster than the Cavs.

I assume the pace quickened
after Eddy followed his heart to the Mayo Clinic.

Oh, yeah,
I live to watch that exciting Cav's basketball.  Nothing better.  <yawn>

Sarcasm
Perfectly used here.

That maybe the most un-exciting team in the east.

He might just mean watching LeBron run up and down the court

They have some stiff competition
Watching any team that needs a contribution from Jameer Nelson or Gary Payton is boring too, unless it turns into a train wreck.
Get that out of Tyrus' House!!!!

Agent Zero is confused.
Yeah, watching Cleveland last year was almost as bad as those Cavs teams of the mid-90s with Coach Mike "The Czar of the Telestrator" Fratello.  This is what happens on most of their plays.  Hey Lebron hold the ball around the 3-point line until there is 3 seconds left on the shot clock.  Then shoot or pass.  Yawn
Is it me or does Lebron walk like a duck?!

We are all witnesses.
Poor us.

wow the Gilbert post on Cheating
is quite possibly the funniest thing I have read in some time. I sent him a message on the game saying " Hey huuuuge fan. Can I get some cheats?" lol I hope i get a reply

Definitely a compliment
that it feels like they're grinding even when they're not.

The Bulls have been near or at the top in opponents fg% for a few years now, and that's for a reason.  While they may push the pace, opponents are obviously not getting a lot of easy baskets.  From Gilbert's point of view, if every shot is contested , every drive is cut off, and you get contact every time you go inside, that's a grind.  On defense, if they're running the ball up the court whenever possible, and running you through screen after screen in their half court sets, that also feels like a grind.

What the stats say, and what your body feels like after 48 minutes against the Bulls can be completely different.
