Luol Deng

The British don't know what they are missing out on...

Star-divide

There's an 'interesting' article on the This Is Local London site about Luol Deng. I live in London at the moment and I can say that the British have absolutely no passion for basketball whatsoever. More than that, they don't know even the slightest about it. Sure they know Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman gained some publicity over here when he was on UK celebrity Big Brother and also played for a British BBL team, but that is about it. Football (soccer) rules here. Meanwhile Deng, who grew up in London, could be a Chinese name for all they know. Fellow Londoners, Ben Gordon and John Amaechi are relative nobodies as well. More NBA news (with a Portland Trail Blazers bias) at my site: Rose Garden Blog.

This can't be real
Basketball player Luol Deng became one of the highest-paid sports stars in the world when he signed a new five-year, £41.6million deal with the Chicago Bulls.

So that's like $70mil for a guy with two years left on his current rookie contract.  Are these red coats smoking something?

wow
That is a really crazy article.  Not only does he not have that contract, but I wouldn't say he is a "massive" star here in the US, nor is he one of the highest paid athletes in the world.  That writer has absolutely no clue.

Spot on...
Welcome to my world over here...

maybe they confused him with
Tyson Chandler.  He's a huge star.

Just a suggestion from a reader
When linking to an article containing information that is entirely wrong (even if it's obvious), it's not very cool to find out one has been misinformed in the comments section. The Deng article is an interesting find, but a clearer fiction disclaimer would have been appreciated.

Trade Rumors
Bulls are still looking to trade for Garnett or Gasol. Don't be surprised if it happens. From your buddy (KEVIN)

A TRADE FOR KG IS OLD NEWS!!!!
No shit we'd like to trade for KG.  My fucking four and a half month old kitten could tell you that.

Gasol?  Nope.

Also, congrats on learning about grammar.

I love cats. I watched two cats for two weeks last month and really missed them when they left.

They're great even if
they can be a huge pain in the ass at times.  I've had 13 during my life, so not having one would suck.

You should get one.  If you live in the city, I can tell you of a great place that usually has a lot of kittens.

I've had
three cats in my life. The last one I had for 14 years and she got sick two years ago and I had to have her put to sleep. Can't bring myself to get attached to another one.

Matt will probably puke whe he read this stuff. :)

It's only
17 days until the first televised preseason game. It's on CSN 10-11-2006 at 7:30. It will be great to get a preview of what could be an exciting season.

Yeah
He'll probably yell at us again.

My current kitten almost died from the same illness that killed the one before him.  I got him five days after she died and on the 5th day I had him, the vet told me he was going to die.  He spent 10 days in the hospital and lived.  If he had died, I wouldn't have gotten another pet ever again.

Sorry ass
Fucking cat killer

by chris44 on Sep 26, 2006 4:36 PM CDT up reply actions

It was the
upper respiratory infection that neither of the two vets I had see her knew was developing into pneumonia that kill her.

If I wanted her dead, I wouldn't have spent $700 over the time span of a few hours at the animal hospital (since it was a Sunday and all places up near me on the North Side were closed, so I had to rush her over to a place on the Northwest Side) to try and stop her from dying, ass.

Don't take it serious, I'm just messing around.

by chris44 on Sep 27, 2006 5:45 PM CDT up reply actions

I just want to understand one thing
You expect it to sound reasonable that John Paxson, who just signed (and rightfully so) an aging ben wallace, is willing to trade away quality young talent who can help his team win now, away for a guy who can't play until at least january next year?

by peterbredenberg on Sep 23, 2006 6:12 PM CDT up reply actions

This diary/thread . . . . .
needs to be taken out and shot.  repeatedly.

from fake news from London

to random speculation which is basically useless (yes, no one will be surprised if Garnett is traded, it's only been talked about for MONTHS!)

to cat commenting (however dear it is to those who have cats).

to me who actually read it.

later.

And now for something completely different
Sue369 and Colossus will debate the spay and neutering of Benny the Bull and his offspring.

One week to go, thank god!
