Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Next stop, Odentown!

Nice to see this is already starting...

Star-divide

No, Isaiah, they're not saying "boo", they're saying Boooooo-urns
Who knows what will happen with this team as the season wears on, but this is going to build confidence.  Also, I loved the part about Thomas telling the team to ignore the boos immediately followed by a reference to Curry... ...what does Isaiah think he's been doing for the entirety of his NBA career.
What Knicks fan wouldn't trade Isaiah, their car and first born for Don Nelson right now?  It's kinda sad.

Good to see that's starting, but....
that division is so weak that the Knicks may not be in the lottery if they can put together a 37 win season.  The Nets are the only team that has any chance at all of going .500 or better in that division, and they're so thin that one injury would be devastating.  It's so bad right now that the Knicks at 7-14, and 2 games out of first place!

We need to start rooting for the Nets to pull away with that thing.  I don't want the Knicks hanging around long enough to make a push at some point in the season and win a dreadful division.  Their frontline is solid: Curry's playing well, I really like David Lee, Quentin Richardson is having a nice comeback year, Frye will be back soon (despite struggling early),that Balkman is actually a good energy guy, and I'm concerned that if Jeffries is the defensive stopper they claim he is, he will be a big addition since he adds something that no one else on that team has.  Besides that, their $40 million dollar a year backcourt of Marbury and Francis is dreadful, but they really have enough talent to win that division if the Nets slip up...probably because that's not saying much.

Good point.
In the vast sea of mediocrity that is the Eastern Conference, the Knicks are not noticeably worse than  a lot of other teams.  I don't think Jefferies will give them much, but they certainly have enough talent to win 30 games.  If the Nets don't win that division they should be embarrassed, even playing 4 on 5 most of the time.

In other Leastern Conference news, the Bulls are lapping the competition with a +4.2 point differential which figures to only increase with their upcoming schedule.

Last place? Your NBA champion Miami Heat at -6.2.  Even without the Bulls blowout they'd be near the bottom of the conference.

Dysfunction
No team in the league has anywhere near the level of dysfunction that the Knicks have.  The mismatched roster, the pressure of the salary situation, the hostile, fed-up fan base, the media scrutiny, poor coaching, and the oddly, almost insanely serene visage of IT presiding over it all, telling his players its all right and not to listen to the boos, even while he is busy not adequately preparing them for their next game.

Sure, its the weaker conference, and yes, its conceivable that the Knicks could pull together and make a run toward mediocrity, and maybe, maybe, they could make a push for the Atlantic crown if everything broke right for them.  That said, I think its far more likely that this team craters, wins 27 or so games, and Isiah goes bye-bye.

don't forget that Charles Dolan is a complete nutjob.  He has his job only because of his father, who built the family biz.
I'm sick of my name, damn gwkd.

oops
Why is it that every terrible white musician has to ruin the blues?  Just because the chords are the simplest so everyone thinks they have channelled Robert Johnson's ghost?  Even more evidence that James is a nutjob.

Ummmm
put together a run?  These are the Knicks and we're in the "Oughts", not the nineties.  Curry will play well as long as it suits him, Jared Jeffries will mix flashes of competence in with his consistent ineffecuality and Isaiah Thomas will be their coach.  Please, remember that Thomas killed the CBA!  Who would have that it could have accomplished less before his arrival.
Thomas is incredible at turning everything he touches into incredicrap.

I almost feel bad
I mean, I've always hated the knicks and I'm cheering against them now so we might even get a #1 draft pick but my gosh...It's sad to see the trainwreck that Isiah has created.  The Knicks used to be a good franchise.
