Game Thread #24: Bulls at Atlanta Hawks

The Bulls take to the road for the first time in two weeks, heading down to Atlanta. And that makes it a 6pm CST start! A bit early for the Chris Duhon drinking game, but thems the breaks.

And another break is that Joe Johnson is 'probable' tonight after missing the past 4 games. Anybody know if he's going to be in the lineup? I guess the game's in a half an hour, so I can be patient.

Blogging with the Enemy: Impending Firestorm | Atlanta Hawks Blog

This is an open thread, where you can come up with rules for the aforementioned Duhon drinking game. Yes, I know he had a good game last night...

Adrian Griffin?
Who usually starts in his place? Sorry for such a n00b question but I generally miss the beginning of a game.
Cooler than the other side of the pillow...

In place of Duhon
but why??? I have no idea. Start Thabo. (although maybe Thabo is banged up too...he's having foot issues apparently)

::smacks forehead::
forgot that you could, you know, START GORDON. Keeping him on the bench in such a situation is nothing more than superstition.

Trade Rumors Galore
This is the first time I've made my way over to Blog-A-Bull (diverted through the SouthSideSox blog), due to a need for trade rumor information.

Time to sit back and enjoy this early start.

My girlfriend would rather be with Kirk Hinrich.

Duhon Drinking Game Rules
  • Take a drink when the announce team or Skiles refers to him as 'Du'
  • Finish your beer when he does the "curl"
  • Pound a beer for <40% FG on the night
just a start...
Dalibor and Dragan!
Like Pizza? Me too.

by FAQ on Dec 16, 2006 6:11 PM CST reply actions

Not tonight.
Du injured his leg with his leap into the crowd last night. Adrian is starting in his place.
Thabo....the accent is sweet!!

Question:
How do you guys feel about the Bulls' television and radio announcers?
My girlfriend would rather be with Kirk Hinrich.

by defensive indifference on Dec 16, 2006 6:21 PM CST reply actions

Ugh.
I'm rusty with this.  I just posted a reply as a comment below.

I like the radio guys way more
it's syncing pretty well with the cable feed tonight, so no wayne for me!

by your friendly BullsBlogger on Dec 16, 2006 6:32 PM CST up reply actions

i love the radio
guys....Wennington is quite insightful and funk, being not from chicago, brought me through many of the great bulls moments that weren't on TV. I don't mind kerr because he's kinda funny, but wayne wears on me...but ya gotta love the 'dagger'

by milesgmsu on Dec 17, 2006 6:25 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah.
I figured that was going to be the case.  Haha.

And Wayne Laravee must never be forgiven for moving from the Bears radio booth to the Packers.

well
I know we can keep this pace up but can Atlanta?

by Option27 on Dec 16, 2006 6:29 PM CST reply actions

Last year...
the Hawks seemed to quit playing in the fourth every time we played them.  Maybe they've matured a little though.
My girlfriend would rather be with Kirk Hinrich.

by defensive indifference on Dec 16, 2006 6:30 PM CST up reply actions

speaking of radio
Anyone know a good Internet radio site to listen to the games?

by dcarioca on Dec 16, 2006 6:30 PM CST reply actions

No free radio
you have to pay for Audio League Pass, but then you can listen to any game you want, and pick the announcing team.  Seattle's announcers (since ALP lost Funk and Wennington) were fun - they loved the way the Bulls were playing.

by KT on Dec 16, 2006 6:47 PM CST up reply actions

announcers?
there was only one guy...but he was awesome

I'm glad ALP went out for everyone, I always fear I'm the only one

by milesgmsu on Dec 17, 2006 6:26 PM CST up reply actions

kirk needs to stay aggressive
funny how outta sync they looked without duhon in there

noc is falling in love with that 3 a little too much

and they freed Ross Gload today, so sad

by james@lifeinthecell on Dec 16, 2006 6:38 PM CST up reply actions

I read that post earlier!
Yeah, I know a lot of people will be sad that Gload is gone.  I feel bad for him though.  He's going to an awful team to continue to be a backup.  Someday/somehow he'll get a starting gig.
My girlfriend would rather be with Kirk Hinrich.

Ten fans in the crowd tonight.
It's so strange seeing a game like this after a long sold out homestand.
My girlfriend would rather be with Kirk Hinrich.

by defensive indifference on Dec 16, 2006 6:35 PM CST reply actions

why don't the Hawks trade for Iverson?
He'd at least get some fans in the building. Plus they still need a point guard, and have some young talent to spare.

by your friendly BullsBlogger on Dec 16, 2006 6:37 PM CST up reply actions

It's Atlanta though.
None of their teams sell many tickets.  Michael Vick can't even sell out the Georgia Dome every game and it's the NFL, where most games are sold out.
My girlfriend would rather be with Kirk Hinrich.

by defensive indifference on Dec 16, 2006 6:39 PM CST up reply actions

Hey, give them a break
The Braves sold out Turner Field for the 2003 Playoffs.  Of course, most of those tickets were bought by Cubs fans. :)

I completely forgot about the that.  Go Terrell Owens!  (he's on my fantasy team)
My girlfriend would rather be with Kirk Hinrich.

by defensive indifference on Dec 16, 2006 6:55 PM CST up reply actions

I was just thinking during
yesterday's game that Kirk has been quiet during the run, but it's more cuz others have stepped up, and the Bulls would need a game like this for Kirk to step up in, just like he has...nice to have depth like this, especially with luol and noc starting slow tonight

by james@lifeinthecell on Dec 16, 2006 6:42 PM CST reply actions

with Du out....
Seems like a good opportunity to get Thabo out there more.

by dcarioca on Dec 16, 2006 6:47 PM CST reply actions

Okay...
Andre Barrett?

This is why I came here, I'm out of the Bulls loop.  Where did I miss this guy joining our team?  And do they expect him to grow another three inches at any point?

My girlfriend would rather be with Kirk Hinrich.

by defensive indifference on Dec 16, 2006 6:54 PM CST reply actions

hawks look so much
better than they were last year
who knew joe johnson was as good as he is and they attack the o-boards pretty hard (weren't they among the league leaders last season in o-boards?)

for a wilder effect on them flops then

News around the league
Cleveland is playing ugly tonight.  51 points through 3, only 8 points in the second quarter.  Still only down 7 to Orlando going into 4th.

by wjb1492 on Dec 16, 2006 7:58 PM CST reply actions

his feet are stuck in cement

because teams never remember he lives on the 17 footer

we just have to live and die with Ben and Kirk in the backcourt. Put them both in please Coach

driving to the basket instead of the wild shots Ben is taking.

by Option27 on Dec 16, 2006 8:13 PM CST up reply actions

they coulda got a much better shot than that, but I don't blame ben so much as nobody going to the ball

by james@lifeinthecell on Dec 16, 2006 8:17 PM CST reply actions

We can still pull this out
I want the rest of the game to go through Deng and Nocioni....not Ben Gordon! They're all over Gordon.

by wjb1492 on Dec 16, 2006 8:52 PM CST up reply actions

i thought that orginally
because it would take a while to get hte board and turn around and launch...if he makes the free throw they can at least somewhat set up for a halfcourt shot as opposed to heave

by milesgmsu on Dec 17, 2006 6:32 PM CST up reply actions

by Option27 on Dec 16, 2006 8:55 PM CST reply actions

not into watching the standings
this early, but if I read them right, the bulls are a game outta first in the central behind det and a half a game behind cleveland

by james@lifeinthecell on Dec 16, 2006 8:59 PM CST reply actions

Depending on how the Detriot - NJ game
goes - if the Nets pull out a win, then the Bulls are only 1/2 game back.  Detroit's up right now, but that's a tight game.  Still, either way, it's pretty darn good considering how the season started.

by wjb1492 on Dec 16, 2006 9:16 PM CST up reply actions

Whew!!!
My heart can't take these kind of games. Nice to get the win. Kirk and Noc with 24 each. I hope the Bears win tomorrow too.

NOW that no.....
one is hurt from the scuffle in the NY GAME,
I can bask in the glory of the NY debacle and hypothesize about how many more games the Knicks will lose. They will lose two of their starters and five total players. This equals= more losses for the knicks which equals= a higher draft pick for the bulls.

I can find the good in any nba ghetto brawl.

Oden may not be realistic, but this is a VERY deep draft.

I hope this Isaiah train-wreck continues for the sake of our draft pick.

Legally making millions of dollars a year and playing at MSG doesnt sound ghetto to me either, so Im not sure why its a ghetto brawl?  Unless I missed something and Mardy collins joined the crips.

by Sambossanova on Dec 17, 2006 9:04 PM CST up reply actions

clarification
I think that I was specifically referring to the sucker punch by Anthony after the fight was over as 'ghetto' .

by NocChapu on Dec 17, 2006 9:25 PM CST reply actions

I've made my feelings clear on this
to the point of being more annoying than usual, but I suggest you use some tact. Your clarification only clarifies the level of ignorance in your original comment.

by Paxson Jackson @ Blog a Bull on Dec 17, 2006 9:58 PM CST up reply actions

Holy touchy Paxson Batman!
I didn't think it could be considered something that could have happened in the ghetto, mostly because they threw such crappy punches.  It was almost as silly as MLB fights, except ones involving Nolan Ryan.
Who can be a go to scorer for the Bulls?
