Eddy Curry Breathing Hard

This article at the New York Daily News has to bring a smile to your face... at least if you mildly root against the guys we've traded away. Some nuggets:

The punishment for those transgressions seemed particularly cruel for Eddy Curry, who was huffing and puffing from end line to end line and finished last each time. He eventually needed Quentin Richardson and David Lee to pull him along. But at least Curry finished.

...

"My job is to make sure he has great success and make him a better player," Thomas said. "I've had experiences with it before, helping Jermaine (O'Neal) Brad Miller grow. I believe I can have similar success with (Eddy) as well."

I don't give Isiah much of the credit for Jemaine O'Neal and Brad Miller getting better while he was their head coach.

Both were vets
when they were acquired by the Pacers.
Will the Ginobili/Nocioni era ever be over?

Wouldn't you say...
...that Eddy is a vet by now? He's not on his rookie contract. To the best of my memory, he and Jermaine were about the same age when they were traded.

At least Jermaine got good .....
I think Jermaine and Eddie were about the same exact age- 3-4 years out of High School.

And at least Eddie got playing time in Chicago.

Jermaine O'Neal was a bench warmer his first several seasons. He didn't get playing time until he got to Indiana, and he was instantly good.  Eddie still sucks @ss.

I still can't believe The Sleuth broke up the Dynasty for this slacker, and his partner in crime (bank robbery) Tyson Chandler.

Why wasn't Jerry Krause summoned to a War Crimes Tribunal and tried for Crimes Against Humanity?

Or turned into the Main Course and served at the annual Bulls Organization family Pig Roast? With an apple in his mouth?

Please?

(organizations win championships you know)

Diet
I'm glad to see Sweets and Eddy are on the same diet plan.  Who's going to balloon to 300 first?

300?
Do you mean 400?  I have a feeling both Curry and Sweetney ballooned past 300 a long, long time ago.

Nice to see hte $60mil invest in Jeffries
is paying off.  Sounds like he's up to par with Big Ben in charity shots.

/Yes, I realize Jeffries' contract is only for $30m, but the luxury tax is dollar-for-dollar so it'll cost the next $60m.
//I'm so glad Isiah isn't our GM.

Baskeball is dead
I have friends in NY who, when I bring up the NBA, just say "Basketball is dead to me."

Haha
I'd be ashamed to be a fan of that abortion of a team.

What happened to all the working out?
I thought Eddy was so ashamed of last year that he did all sorts of working out this past offseason.  I thought ESPN reported that he was working with a trainer, working on his post moves with Mark Aguirre, playing pick-up games, etc.  Now we hear that he's being dragged to the finish line by 2 teammates.  That's a bit puzzling.

Anyway, I think it's going to be another great year to have the rights to the Knicks' 1st round pick.

The Knicks need hope
So of course they're going to play up how hard Eddy's been working all summer.  But we know Eddy -- he may have worked some, but you know he wasn't pushing himself too hard.

Even 2 seasons ago when he came in relatively svelt, he seemed to lose a ton of weight right at the end of the off-season before training camp -- 6 weeks before camp, he was still way too heavy.  And that was under pressure from Skiles and Pax.  IT does not apply similar pressure.

Reading the Knicks media day quotes, its just great.  It fills me with anticipation almost as great as the anticipation for watching the Bulls, in exactly the opposite way.  Starbury is talking about having the freedom to play how he plays, and Eddy reports working out so hard and then can't make it through the drills.  Of course, we need to cut him some slack, since JJ got injured AGAIN at the start of camp and isn't playing.  This team is just begging to crater.

Just because he came in last . . .
doesn't mean he is in terrible shape.  If you look at their roster, he should be the slowest player on the team.  If someone came in after him, there would be something wrong.  It doesn't necessarily mean he is in terrible shape. (And Jerome James was sitting out).

What, you expect him to beat Nate Robinson?
